Introduction
Nanjing Normal University Library was established in 1952. Based on the former site, collections of Ginling Women Arts and Science College, it inherited books and documentations from the former Normal College of Nanjing University, and Ginling University. With more than half a century’s development, the library has became a comprehensive academic library with the structure of "Main library + Specialized branch libraries + Compact Stacks". Adhering to the service concept of "people-oriented", the NNUL formed the University Library System by integrating resources, optimizing collections, innovating services, and teamworking. There are seven libraries in three campuses covering nearly 40000 square meters. They are: Suiyuan Library (Literature Library), Huaxia Library (Education Library) in Suiyuan Campus; Zijin Library (Engineering Library) in Zijin Campus; Jingwen Library (Main Library), Social Science Library (including Compact Stacks), Mathematics , Physics & Chemistry Library, Geography and Life Sciences Library in Xianlin Campus.
After a hundred years’ accumulation and construction, the total collections of the library amounted to 3.4924 million volumes, including Education, Literature, Science and Art. The library also boasts rich resources in collection of ancient books and literatures of the Republic of China. The library has 12 million ancient books, among which 11 million copies are thread bound books, 3000 of which was included in Chinese Booklist of Good Edition of Ancient Books and classified in 190 categories, including the precious and only publication of Ming dynasty in the world Qieju’s Criticism of XiZaiHe Legend and the block-printed book of Tianshun in the Ming Dynasty A Collection of Scholar Song. It also boasts more than 10 thousands handcover and photocopied ancient books, such as the Imperialmanuscript Library, literature collections of Education in the time of the Republic of China. In 2008, the library was included in the National Key Protection Units of Ancient Books by the State Council. A total of 41 ancient books of the library was selected to the " Precious Ancient Books List of Jiangsu Province ", and 23 ancient books of the library was selected to the "National Treasure List of Ancient Books." The library boasts more than 3.2 million Chinese and foreign electronic books, 31000 kinds of electronic journals in Chinese and foreign languages, 106 database resources of all kinds ranks.
Jingwen Library (Main Library)
The Jingwen Library of Xianlin Campus has benefited from the generous contribution of the Hong Kong Zhu Jingwen Education Foundation and was named after Mr. Zhu Jingwen, a well-known education industrialist. Built in April 2001 on the central axis of the campus, the building, leaning against the green hill and facing the school gate in a long distance, covers an area of 5200 square meters, with a total construction area of 20,800 square meters. It is the main library of Nanjing Normal University Library. The layout and facilities of Jingwen Library embodies the concept of “People-Oriented” and “For Readers’ Convenience”. It offers integrated service model of open-shelf borrowing and collection borrowing. Part of the floors and reading rooms also set up rest and discussion areas for the readers. The collections mainly focused on instruction-related Chinese and foreign language books and reference books, as well as social science and science Chinese sample books, teaching reference books and publications of faculty.

Suiyuan Library (Literature Library)
Suiyuan Library was built in 1984 in Suiyuan Campus, covering 5300 square meters.While the main collections are literature and history, it also contains ancient classics, reference books, Chinese sample Journals in arts and sciences, thesis of Master and PhD students, books published during the Republic of China and before the Great Cultural Revolution.

Huaxia Library (Library of Education)
Located near to the lawn in Suiyuan Campus, Huaxia Library, the former Jinling Women Arts and Science College library, was built in 1933 and covers 1732.7 square meters. Thanks to the donation from Hongkong Huaxia Education Fund in May 1988, Huaxia Library is the first domestic professional library aimed at basic education and pedagogical education. After the adjustment of layout, the site, currently, possesses the collections of Chinese humanity sample books and books in Hong Kong and Taiwan version. It is the arts and sciences Chinese Books editorial center of University Literature and Information Assurance System in Jiangsu Province.

Zijin Library
The Zijin Library, whose predecessor is Nanjing dynamic Junior College, became an important part of Nanjing Normal University Library in 2000. The building was settled in 1988 and covers 4900 square meters. Featuring with Engineering, the library also possessess research resources such as Chinese National Standards and China Patent Ducumentation. The arts and sciences Chinese Books editorial centers of University Literature and Information Assurance System in Jiangsu Province is located in this museum.

Geography and Life Sciences Library
As the first research-based professional library, Geography and Life Sciences Library was put into service in 2006 and offers academic and professional services for College of Life Science and Geographical Science. It was relocated to New North Area in Xianlin Campus in July 2016, covering about 2000 square meters. There are mainly collections of Chinese and Foreign resources about Geography and Life Sciences.

Social Science Library (including Compact Stacks )
Social Science Library is located on the first floor of Xingming building in Xianlin Campus, covering 1100 square meters. It was opened to all the faculty members and students on Sept. 1st in 2009 and mainly offers academic and professional services for The Institution of Public Administration, Business College and Law School. There are reader communication space, study rooms, seminar rooms, multimedia training rooms, over 300 seats and about 200 network accesses in this library. It collected 50 thousand copies of paper documents about Research Literatures of Social Science.
Situated at the basement floor of the Social Science Library, Compact Stacks covers 1500 square meters. The library mainly collects low utilization Chinese and foreign books, which amount to 500 thousand volume. These books are for closed stacks. If the readers want to borrow books from the Compact Stacks, they may check out in the Social Science Library.

Mathematics，Physics & Chemistry Library
Mathematics，Physics & Chemistry Library is located on the second floor of Xingming building in Xianlin Campus, covering 1500 square meters. It was opened to all the faculty members and students on Sept. 1st in 2009 and mainly offers academic and professional services for Schools of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer. There are reader communication space, study rooms, seminar rooms, multimedia training rooms, over 270 seats and about 270 network accesses in this library. It collected 60 thousand copies of paper documents about Research Literatures of Social Science.
